The Little Things In Life
“The Little Things in Life” program, founded to support the future of the Standardbred industry, is designed to nurture the next generation of horsemen by giving children a unique opportunity to participate in both the Ontario & East Coast Mini Series. Through this exciting initiative, kids can apply to “borrow” one of our carefully selected miniature horses (minis) for the entire racing season. The program aims to foster a love of horsemanship, teach essential horse care skills, and give young participants a hands-on experience in the world of miniature horse racing.
Key Highlights
Horsemanship

Participants will learn the basics of horse care, including feeding, grooming, and maintaining a clean and safe stable environment. Our team of mentors will provide guidance to help children develop confidence in handling their mini.
Racing Experience

Children will compete in trot races, providing a safe, controlled, and thrilling introduction to the world of miniature horse racing. These races are designed to promote fair competition while allowing children to bond with their minis.
Supportive Community

The Little Things in Life fosters a community of young horse enthusiasts who share a passion for the Standardbred industry. Participants will build friendships, share experiences, and develop a sense of camaraderie with other children in the program.
Personal Growth

Through caring for their mini and racing in the series, children will build discipline, responsibility, and empathy—qualities essential for both horsemanship and life.
Program Details
Participants will have the opportunity to bond with, care for, and race their very own mini in the East Coast Mini Series. The children will be required to participate in trot races only, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for both the children and the horses. Children will get to enjoy the thrill of racing, gain valuable lessons in responsibility, teamwork, and animal care.
Each child will sign a seasonal contract, committing to the well-being of their mini throughout the program. This contract will outline the expectations for proper stable management, care, and participation in the mini racing series. To ensure a successful experience, applicants must have support from family or friends who are willing to assist with the daily care and stabling of their mini.
